My son is learning how to do some detailed wainscoting for a bathroom renovation from a local master carpenter.
The panels he has learned how to make are beautiful, but the process has been lengthy.
The design of these panels are not particularly complicated, but according to my son, every panel has a story.
First, the design was done by committee…the carpenter spent a few hours to crowdsource opinions from the morning coffee crowd.
Then the wood was cut…but not before the carpenter told a few anecdotes.
The panels were sanded…and after the carpenter told another anecdote.
The panels were sanded (again)…and painted (while the carpenter took a nap.)
It’s the one thousand and one nights of carpentry, and my bathroom will look beautiful!
