Happy Chinese New Year!
According to the Chinese Zodiac, I am a Monkey.
Moreover, this is a Fire Monkey year….and I am a Fire Monkey as well.
Monkeys are the sign for those born in 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004 and this year, 2016.
According to several websites, monkeys are intelligent, dignified, curious, gregarious, optimistic, sociable, quick-witted, confident, agile, and inventive. Monkeys motivate others.
(Full disclosure: Monkeys are also considered egotistical, vain, selfish, reckless, snobbish, stubborn, manipulative, restless)
The best matches are: Snake, Dragon, Rat (this is good, because my husband is a dragon.)
Good matches are Goat, Monkey, Ox, Horse, Rooster, Dog, Rabbit (also good, because my sons are ox and rabbit signs)
Now, I am not a big believer in zodiacs, but as a teacher I have noted that there have been years that have been particularly difficult….a year where the class seems to be dominated by difficult or challenging students. Perhaps it is “those years” where the Chinese Zodiac might provide a clue.
Bad matches for the Monkey? Pig and Tiger.
Maybe the signs are to blame.
